A collaborative multi-media installation project that explores the evolving rural Acadian identity in the Clare region.
Les voix de Clare résonnent is a multi-media installation project created by L’Acadie art exchange collective (Sheila LeBlanc, Ariella Pahlke, Ann Verrall) artists from Clare, Terence Bay and Halifax in collaboration with three generations of community members from Clare, NS. The installation brings together video projection, sound and performance to explore the evolving rural Acadian identity in the Clare region. Clare is on the Bay of Fundy where the highest tides in the world mean living in an environment that is always in a state of flux. This environment lends itself as metaphor to explore how the Acadian experience is in constant transformation and how past and future are linked through language.
Les voix de Clare résonnent est un projet d’installation multimédia créée par un collectif d’artistes de Clare, Terence Bay et Halifax en collaboration avec trois générations de membres de la communauté de Clare, NS. L’installation réunit de la projection vidéo, de son et de la performance afin d’explorer l’évolution de l’identité acadienne en milieu rural dans la région de Clare. Clare est sur le bord de la la baie de Fundy, où il y a les plus hautes marées du monde. Y vivre, signifie vivre dans un environnement qui est toujours dans un état de flux. Cet environnement se prête comme métaphore pour explorer la façon dont l’expérience acadienne est en transformation constante et comment le passé et l’avenir sont liés par la langue.
Musician Alexandre Billodeau create a “found sound” orchestra with participants which became a major element of the soundtrack.
We mounted a version of it in Clare for Festival de la parole de la Baie Sainte-Marie October 2, 2014.
It was reworked and remounted for Nocturne Halifax October 18, 2014 on the Dartmouth waterfront.
